Great treasures are hidden in the land of shadows

July 9th, 2007, by Attila Borcsa in Vertical thinking

If we should pick a sole event that radically changed the view on human life in the 20th century then it was the rise of the mushroom cloud of the atomic bomb. Never before was the human kind facing such fierce form of destruction. Whether it was foreseen or not, it was the biggest turning point in the modern history of mankind. It was the moment when for the first time man appealed to a force of unimaginable destructiveness. And guess how the substance of the atomic bomb was called? It was called plutonium. Named after the ancient god Pluto, ruler of the underworld, the most feared one. Let’s learn about him and about the unseen forms of aggression.

Getting closer to aggression through understanding

July 3rd, 2007, by Attila Borcsa in Vertical thinking

The story of the god of aggression has at its core the lack of understanding. The god of aggression, Ares at Greeks (Mars at Romans) was rejected by his parents from the very beginnings of his life. And he was rejected, avoided and feared by all gods and humans. In the ancient Greece he had very few places of worship. So, through their myths and legends, the ancient Greeks,- who are by the way responsible for most of our basic cultural influences, - clearly expressed the essence of aggression. In spite of all the repulsion, they still considered him one of the Olympian Gods, an essential quality influencing and governing human life. Those times were quite a while ago. But did we change our attitude towards this essential quality? Is aggression more accepted and understood today?

Will progress get ahead of men?

In actual times, in the modern world, development and evolution on a larger scale is called progress. Since Heraclitus stated that “everything flows” - “Panta Rhei”, we accept the universality of permanent change. Change seems real, stability an illusion. Due to this belief in change, progress got a central place in our world. Actually, progress puts pressure on us, progress seems to become the ultimate obsession of modern men. But where does it lead us? Do you see progress heading into a good direction? Is progress truly beneficial for us? Or do you see it more like marking time? Or maybe we are just going round and round?

The Unknown and Unseen Facets of Aggression

Both personal development and spiritual development are demanding that you deal with aggression. At one point, you will have to face it and you will have to give your answer. Dealing with it properly on a personal level will give you the strength for your personal success. Or, on the contrary, giving wrong answers will lead you to lack of self confidence and failure. Dealing with it on the spiritual level will give you courage and strength for true transformation. Actually, there is no spiritual transformation without it. But there is nothing more unpleasant to deal with. People have tried and always will try to avoid it. How to overcome this repugnance? How to approach aggression in such a way that you can benefit from it?

It’s not aggression - it’s hypocrisy that holds us back

June 27th, 2007, by Attila Borcsa in Conscious living

There is an unfortunate attitude propagated on large scales these days. It is almost like a conviction. A conviction that tends to become a sort of modern religion. This misconception can be summed up like this: aggression is identified with violence. Just ask around yourself a few quick questions like “What do you think aggression is?” or “Do you see aggression as being good or bad?”. You will be surprised to see that most people think of aggression as something bad. My take on this is that it’s a huge misunderstanding here. And it is even more unfortunate that this tendency is aggravating. Here I am sharing with you some concerns and also some possibly clarifying thoughts on aggression.

One Remarkable Good Wish

June 22nd, 2007, by Attila Borcsa in Inspirational

When adulthood is near, there are all sorts of events trying to introduce you to it. While these are rolling, you get lots of good wishes, lots of well-wishing advices. But can you remember any of these? If so, good for you. You must have the memory of elephant. It is not the case for me. Anyway, this whole thing came up as I rediscovered one of those good wishes. In fact I was quite surprised by the wisdom in it. I don’t know if it was copied or it was an original one that popped out on the moment. But it is a remarkable thought. Here I am sharing it with you.

How Thought Manifestation Is Done In Practice

The reality you live in is shaped by your own thoughts. Whether you approach this affirmation from a factual or an analytical angle, there is agreement on this. Thoughts have an essential characteristic: they tend to become palpable. They tend to condense, to show up in a form that is less abstract. They are urged to become as real as possible. Similarly to a seed that carries the potentiality of the tree within, thoughts carry the potentiality of showing up in front of the bodily eye. Should thoughts enter into your life by chance, by surprise, unexpectedly or on the contrary, you realize their imminence, even consciously bring them to life - is entirely your choice. Today I will give you my method of manifesting thoughts consciously.

What’s the Secret of Feeling at Home Wherever You Are?

June 13th, 2007, by Attila Borcsa in Conscious living, 6 comments

Slippers

Can you recall those people that always seem to be at home in whatever circumstances? I am sure you do. Or on the other side, those people who never seem to feel comfortable wherever they are? Are you one of those? Do you feel at home right now? Or on the contrary, you feel some sort of restlessness, some urge to move on from where you are right now? Stop for a moment and try to give an honest answer here. Can you remember those moments when you really felt that you have arrived home? Why do you think they occurred there and then?

The Potentiality of Original Sin

June 11th, 2007, by Attila Borcsa in Conscious living

Michiel van Coxcie - Original Sin (fragment)

The concept of original sin has a central role in our religious and cultural inheritance. Understanding it is essential in finding the roots of our actual cultural and social milieu. More than that, no true self understanding can be achieved unless we deal with it in some form. The term might sound fearful at times, but as we understand it more, it will loose its terrible charge.
